The Training Course on Hazardous Waste Treatment Technologies
for the Semiconductor and Electronics Industry was held last
March 14 - 16, 2001 at the Malcolm Hall, University of the Philippines,
Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines.
The training
course was sponsored by the Department of Environment and Natural
Resources - Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), United
States - Asia Environmental Partnership (US-AEP), United States
Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the University of
the Philippines, Diliman. The course was organized by the Pacific
Basin Consortium for Hazardous Waste Research and Management
(PBC).
Key lecturers
from USEPA were invited as resource speakers. The program was
envisioned to foster development of a cooperative, voluntary
network of agencies and organizations on toxic and hazardous
waste management.
A total
of 131 participants, mostly from the semiconductor and electronics
industry, attended the training course. Others in attendance
are from the service provider industry, government sector, academe,
and other non-government organizations.
